IIIT-Hyd is carrying out a research project socionity which brought out a gps tracking android app on the mobile phones along with the collaborators Janastu and Mitan Handicrafts. The aim to build this app is to track the routes of the shepherds taking their sheep flocks from pasture to pasture. While communicating on phone, the collective information(grazing area, water bodies, harvested land...) of one shepherd location can be helpful for an other shepherd who is on move. The location information can be fetched through a sms/phonecall, thus reducing the cost of living.
