About Us

Sanchaya Nele meaning Support Space, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working for the social and economic development of marginalized rural communities, particularly Dalits (Scheduled Castes), women and children. The organization started its work in April 2002 in 32 villages in Sarjapura hobli in Anekal taluk, Bangalore Urban district of Karnataka. Sanchaya Nele works for the socio-economic empowerment and development of women by promoting their participation in decision making processes and facilitating their leadership at various levels.

Foremost amongst Sanchaya Nele’s initial interventions was to provide awareness to village residents about governmental programmes and schemes designed for their benefit. For this, the staff of the organization visit villages on a weekly basis to interact with groups of women and youth. Sanchya Nele also has activities to address livelihood issues and caste atrocities. The ideology of the organization is based on values of liberty, equality and fraternity with an emphasis on democracy and transparency. While Sanchaya Nele emphasizes on Dalit history and stresses on revitalizing Dalit culture for Dalit youth. Simultaneously, it strives to create communal harmony while encouraging other groups to protect their cultural identity.

Sanchaya Nele now works in 120 villages across 4 hoblis, namely Kasaba, Jigani, Athibele, Sarjapura in Anekal taluk, Bangalore Urban district. It also reaches out to marginalized children and Adivasis (Scheduled Tribes) in 15 villages.
